Yes a plan B is always good and have already started looking at Greyhound/Flixbus options too if something catastrophic is predicted for the Amtrak system in that area.
Couple of years ago we were on a train in Egypt, desert terrain. Train had to stop due to flooding!!!
I was foolishly hoping that someone was going to write that Empire Service trains are as good at time keeping as a Swiss watch... ah well, another early morning.
Thanks everyone, all good points and appreciated
Starting to consider my return trip from Syracuse to NYP. On arrival at Penn I go straight from the station to JFK for an international flight.
Travelling on a Sunday so possible fewer Empire Service trains available? in fact just two to be able to arrive at JFK without having to rush to the...
Take a look at the downtown Herbert Hotel hotel and Fitzgerald Hotel which are not too far from the Amtrak bus stop in Mission Street.
At the lower end of San Francisco's price range and basic but do put you near many of downtown's attractions and the arrival bus stop, especially if you like...
I'd like to buy a Surfliner ticket in advance for convenience and know my departure date but cannot be precise as to the exact time I will arrive at LAX station.
If I were to book the mid afternoon train (3:13 pm) but missed it, would my ticket be automatically valid for the evening train at...
Very good thanks.
Some through passengers will get off, some stay onboard so those numbers can vary from train to train. From what you write I'm assuming that if you get off you can only reboard once all the car changes are made and the trains ready to go? That would be a reason for people...
You make some good points about walking around at night, but we all have different levels of risk taking so that would be a personal decision I guess.
What caught my eye was imagining large numbers of people who have to leave the TE while car changes are made having to wait somewhere that wasn't...
Thanks. I am curious due to the comments above about the crowded waiting area at the station and that there is time enough to wander the city before reboarding.
Excellent advice, thank you.
Sorry a stupid question now. Have never used the Red Cap service before, where do you find them or do I just hail one that is passing and what's a reasonable tip for this service?
Thanks for the description and the limitations.
We're travelling between NYP and Syracuse and would like a) to sit together, and b) have a good shot at sitting the Hudson river side, therefore my preocupation with being able to reserve particualr seats.
Would we have a better chance of getting...
You may be correct, on re-reading it doesn't specifically name the Empire Service trains, just states ' many ' NE trains. Wishful thinking on my part.
