I'd love to see the Chicago to Milwaukee route upgraded to 110 MPH, and I think it has a pretty good shot and getting the funding to do so.... Eventually really HSR would be nice but it is a start.
Yes there is parking just a bit north of the station. The building was completely rebuilt from a very dreary moderist structure, and is much much nicer. I believe the trainshed will be rebuilt in the next few years and the area is primed for new development around the station so it will be...
I thought folks might be interested in seeing the recently completed Milwaukee, WI Intermodal Station which is the Amtrak station and Greyhound hub. And with some luck will soon have a commuter rail and possibly streetcar connection as well.

Yea I've taken the Megabus between Milwaukee and Chicago a few times and for the money its really not bad. That said if I want to spend a little bit more taking the Amtrak is the way to go.
Although I've never had the pleasure to hang out in the tavern car of a Metra train I believe this is a sad day. To some this car may of become a sort of a "third place" for them, where people who would of never met came together and shared community. It also seems to be an end of an era...

Further someone had asked if he'd every done anything for Amtrak. The answer is yes.. a couple of examples here...
