Connecticut Inland Route and Albany - Boston Corridor (Compass Service)

They aren't wrong. FRA is going to go elsewhere in state-supported services if there is no cost sharing.

St. Paul, Milwaukee, Chicago (TCMC) second daily service

Any updates on Great River / TCMC? I know the last word was September but I looked at bookings through December and no options yet.

They re-did almost all of the crossings in Miami-Dade / Broward. Some didn't get quad gates because the speed in those sections were already below 80mph due to curve restrictions nearby. (edit: but that might change due to public pressure because people can't stop getting hit by the trains.)

    Brightline Trains West!

By the fact it's an intra-state (only goes through 1 state) service, the federal government is unwilling to throw money at it in any meaningful way to get the project rolling to a pace that it can actually meet it's timelines. California, not without it's own budget woes and with a flatlining...

    Texas High Speed Rail

An update from North Central Texas Council of Governments rep when asked on status of TCR. Video below but here is the summary. 1. DFW area council of governments has been mostly in the dark as well, they have been in contact with TCR but can't say much more right now. 2. There will be something...

    Solar panels between the rails

The issue with solar on any traveled surface is dust and vibration, which of course railways have lots of... Also, connecting the power over long distances etc. It's a good idea that will never work.

This is over a year old now, but I believe a lot of these projects are still moving forward:

    Brightline Trains West!

CA HSR is in major, major funding trouble. The whole Phase 1 is $106b, and have only identified about $20b of funding. Even the initial initial operating segment is $8-10b short. Brightline West says the whole Vegas/RC route is around $12b, they need $3.5B of FSP federal funding to accomplish...

Gardner's statement on House budget proposal

Hi, live in Fargo, ND here. I think our town is representative of a lot of mid-sized (50k-250k) (Fargo is on the upper end at 250k) LD towns. People don't use LD service because of the reasons we all know about. 1. The LD lines on-time performance is horrible. 2. The frequency of service is...

    New route in Northern California

No, it's saying that service already exists at SAC. The new service will be just north of SAC and north. http://www.bcag.org//documents/Rail%20Study/North-Valley-Rail-Booklet-20230504.pdf

Honolulu’s rail system will start operations June 30, 2023

Another big rail project where mangers decided to do the "easy" part first. Forgetting the whole point of mass transit projects exist to move people in/out of high density areas. Spend $X billions to move almost no people at the start, when you could have spend $X + 1 billion to move lots of...

    Empire Builder service disruption

Not sure if this is the right place, but an update on the reason for the Eastbound Empire Builder (8) departing on April 2nd service disruption east of Williston, ND. The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released it's final press release on the crash. It was delayed due to the nature of the...

Amtrak #8 (3/8) Stuck in Snow near Rugby

Looks like they are finally free! The feature picture shows that it looks like the snowbank formed along some grain cars along a siding. Article says BNSF workers had to dig out the train by hand...

    Travel around America by Amtrak

OP would likely be a good candidate for a multi-ride pass as well. May even need a 30 segment pass for that much of a trip. Would also allow flexibility for side-trips.
