    Denver Airport to Station/hotel closeby

I would recommend taking RTD Skyride from the Airport to downtown Denver. Route AF will drop you off at Market Street Station then you can hop on the (free) mall shuttle for three minutes and you'll be at Union Station. Skyride uses highway coaches instead of city transit buses, and will...

    Texas Eagle Information

I have done the overnight turnaround in SAS before. I live in Austin and one day decided to ride the ~60 miles down and return the next morning. There is no way the crew will let you stay in a sleeper if it is just booked to San Antonio. Upon arrival into SAS, train 21 will be vacated...

    Amtrak LSA Openings

Thanks for all your replies! It sounds like my experience as a Customer Service Manager at Wal-Mart would come in handy... I'm still thinking about it, considering this would mean relocating and has the strong potential to hurt my personal life. Right now I've got a good job with Pepsi and...

    Amtrak "travel feedback"

Maybe you should call Customer Service and ask to speak with a manager. After a near-death experience on Amtrak, I called and got two $200 vouchers for future travel. You can even warm up to them first by saying you were worried your compliments didn't get to the right people after recieving...

    Amtrak LSA Openings

I've been eyeing the Amtrak job board for a while, and upon checking today, found positions for LSA in Washington, Boston, and New York. I am seriously thinking about applying, but have a few questions: 1) Is there one crew base people on these forums may prefer? 2) My understanding is they...

    Terror on the road

After a long absence from these forums as well as Amtrak travel in general due to school and work, three months ago I decided to plan a trip for my girlfriend and I to visit New York for Spring Break. She was new to train travel and we had a limited time frame, so I decided to take the Texas...

    Pictures of Cardinal

There are some photos of the sleeping car right here on Anthony's site: Amtrak Unlimited. On Amtrak's website there are virtual tours of the Roomettes and Bedrooms.

    Scenery Pictures

There are a lot of great photos on Railpictures.net. My suggestion would be to go to their main page, search under railroad "Amtrak" and then sort by "Most Popular". Usually the most popular photos have great scenery. One of my favorite photos is this one, by Mark Wurst.

    Fla HS Rail Derailed

Same to you, Saxman. Did you ever hear about the planned high speed rail corridor along IH-35 a few years back? I believe it was supposed to stretch from Ft. Worth, through Dallas, down to San Antonio and maybe even to Houston. Now THAT would be something else! Edit: I found some info on...

    Fla HS Rail Derailed

Oh thats wonderful. I don't understand why people think the only way they can go anywhere is by driving a car, or should I say SUV. It seems like people would rather sit in traffic, or wait for construction for a freeway, than cruise at a much higher speed on a train. I'm not from florida...

I got Irving and Arlington mixed up... Apologies!

    The Texas Eagle

That Bass Performance Hall is something else. I was very impressed the last time I was in downtown Ft. Worth. Its probably one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen. There are many things to do as a tourist, such as those mentioned by saxman. Also you can't forget Sundance Square.

Sean got offered admission to FSU

I started off as a Manufacturing Engineering Technology major and just switched to technical theatre - something I've been doing for seven years now. I just hated learning so much new material when I was so experienced in another field - it felt like wasted knowledge. Once college is over...

    left in Dallas

This locomotive had been in Ft. Worth for a good while. I was taking the Texas Eagle from Ft. Worth to Austin every Friday from mid September to mid October. It always sat on a siding in close proximity to the Amtrak storage area, and a derail was placed in front of it. On October 8th the...

    The Texas Eagle

As rmadisonwi stated, OTP has improved compared to what it was a few years ago. I can't say anything on the airport transfer, but check out that DART link. Here is the DFW Airport Public Transportation page, which may help. The scenery in Texas isn't bad, but not the most interesting. If I...

Question about 17 yr old son's upcoming trip

Your son will be on one of the through cars from Los Angeles to Chicago, so he will stay on board the train in San Antonio. As long as his ticket says train 422, hes fine. Good luck!

    Superliner Coach outlets

I believe I saw a list with locations of the electrical outlets in a Superliner coach somewhere before, but now I can't find them. I searched these forums and got nothing, so I was hoping one of ya'll could imform me as to the locations of the outlets. Thanks
