SWC loses 9 hours between Raton and Las Vegas???

#3 (9/23?) lost 9 hours and is now 10+ late. I have been on the SWC when it was 11 hours late but it was a late start that just grew. This seems like a major issue to loose 9 hours in the short distance between two stations. Info??? that late trip.....@ Raton

My 6000 miles on Amtrak 2017......

I make the trip from WV to So Cal once a year. And each year I write about the entire trip. 8 days of my travel are on Amtrak trains but I also write about my travel in general. I do this for my self, friends and family but do like to share. It's long and covers trains, cars etc. Thanks just...

Any insight why SWC #4 three hours late day one??? 8/31/17

#4 has been late so much of late.....and I will ride soon and HOPE to connect with Cardinal home. Three hours late at Flagstaff is not comforting. BTW you miss the Cardinal and Amtrak puts you up for 2 days in Chicago right???

I make this trip each year.....on my 6th year this year. But there is always something new each trip. Leaving next week from WSS to LA Union station. This year I am going to try Business class on the Cardinal over the norm Roomette. Then back to roomette on SWC. What can I expect in Business...

WHY is the Cardinal so costly???

I am looking around at trains for my annual trip from WV to SoCal. Using a site to compare costs on different days I noted the Cardinal is always more than any other trains all things considered. I know the 3 days a week means they can charge more but if less than a full day on the Cardinal is...

Amtrak 1974 vs 2016 ticket price wise......

I am cleaning out my garage to make room to actually park a car in there!! One box I found my Amrak ticket from July 1974 from Los Angeles Union to Davis Ca. I bought the ticket two days before departure.....not sure if pricing varied like it does today.......but my two day advance ticket was...

SWC more than 7 hours late heading to Chicago.....

I've been on the SWC when it runs late. Going West not a big deal. We were 8 hours plus getting into Fullerton Jan 2015. Not a huge issue. But I always fear being very late East bound. I have to meet the Cardinal and as it's only 3 times a week miss the connection.....big issue. Any one know...

From my roomette on the Cardinal......

#51 was 35 minutes late into WSS.....not to bad all things considered. To my surprise when I opened the laptop Wi-Fi was working. So I started writing as I always do and just as fast it stooped working. Came back up this morning at about 6:30. We have made up most of the time.....the big lay...

6000+ miles on Amtrak.....and other things.....

Hello all, As you can see I'm new here. I am not new to Amtrak or passenger rail travel. Coming from a rail family I have traveled this way all my life. Over the past two years I have rode WSS to LA twice....and written about it. I call the writings 'logs' as I hate the term blog. They are...
