Lead Service Attendant
Passing on Amtrak owned right of way from Kalamazoo, Mi to Portage, In. I noticed there was many bundles of new ties along the tracks for replacement (so I think at least). What puzzled me was the fact that this line was converted years ago by Amtrak after purchase from Conrail and concrete or cement ties were installed as part of an upgrade to 90 MPH service. However the new ties along the track were all wood. It made me currious if this was for replacement of cement ties (that wouldn't make sense) or are they building a passing siding or something else that I am not thinking of. Any of you know what is going on with that stretch of track?
