Amtrak today announced a significant fare reduction on the Keystone line, the route between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Penn.
One-way fares between cities along the route have been reduced $3 to $8, which is, in some cases, more than 50 percent.

Off-peak fares between Philadelphia and Harrisburg have been reduced from $21 to $19 (and from $28 to $24 for peak trains).  Between Lancaster and Harrisburg, fares are now $6 for off-peak trains (down from $11 previously) and $8 for peak trains (down from $15).  And between Lancaster and Philadelphia, off-peak fares have been reduced from $16 to $13, and peak fares have been reduced from $21 to $16.

Off-peak fares are in effect at all times except between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays.

“With these new lower fares and 10 weekday roundtrips between Harrisburg and Philadelphia, the Keystone service is a convenient and economical way to avoid I-76,” said Barbara J. Richardson, Amtrak Vice President of Marketing and Sales.  “And by making fares more attractive, we believe that more travelers will chose the train.”
The full press release, including a table showing the new fare structure, can be found here.
