Trains.com has a tidbit about the new Baby Bullet service in the Bay Area set to begin next Spring.
Hopefully I'll be able to hit the Baby Bullets in my 2005 rail extravganza (21,000 miles in 30 days).Caltrain announces Baby Bullet stops
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Caltrain last week announced the commuter rail stations that will be served by its “Baby Bullet” Service, scheduled to begin next spring. The new service is touted to cut travel times between San Francisco and San Jose to less than one hour.
In order to accommodate the Baby Bullets, the Caltrain timetable will be completely redone and will include new service patterns. In addition to San Francisco and San Jose, the new trains will serve the Millbrae, Hillsdale, Palo Alto, and Mountain View stations.
The new schedule, which will include up to 10 more trains than Caltrain's current 76-train schedule, will be presented in a series of public meetings in October. Much of the Baby Bullet equipment is on the property already and in service mixed in with Caltrain’s traditional fleet, but the service is being delayed until all bypass tracks, signal work, and other improvements have been completed.
