Fire closes rail line

A section of the Union Pacific Railroad railway between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara was closed because several trestles were damaged by the fire.

Sounds like bad news for the Starlight, which I'm scheduled to take in a couple weeks. Anyone know more?

If it is closed, I hope they fix it since I will be on the starlight the 20th of this month. Although I don't have a great deal of faith in UP :unsure:

#11 saturday was bused Guadalupe-SBA, #11 sunday will be bus SLO-SBA. #14 sunday is bus SBA(LA)-SLO - #14 monday will be the same. Apparently a trestle is out and will be for several days. Unknown whether Amtrqak will continue bus bridge beyond monday or annull 11/14 and send pax up San Joaquin Valley which they normally do if line is closed.

Only problem with sending pax up the San Joaquin valley right now is that due to a levy break near Stockton all trains up the valley are being detoured from BNSF Stockton to Oakland to UP to go via Sacramento and the Cal-P to Oakland increasing the travel time around an hour and a half.
