More seriously a few years ago a supervisor did give me a $50 Amtrak gift certificate, not for birthday, but as a bonus for some extra work I had done for her.

I did have a pleasant day, though it did not have anything to do with railroading. Rather, I saw "Les Miserables" for about the 15th time, which was truly a treat.
