Eastbound International, Train 364(15FEB) arrived Toronto as VIA train,

then its equipment was backing out of a wye at the VIA Rail Canada

Toronto maintenance base when it struck a moving locomotive and

derailed. No injury to VIA crew. Crew on locomotive sustained minor

injuries.

Coach 44552 has major damage to one end, probable end frame cracked.

Coach 53503 has all wheels derailed.

Coach 54534 has one truck derailed.

Engine 27 not derailed but is sitting on twisted rail.

Westbound International, Train 365(16FEB) is cancelled. :(

I'm curious if Amtrak International in Canadian territory is covered by Canandian gov't subsidiary and operated by VIA Rail (that I know for sure)?

What about the Cascade train in its territory? Is it operated by VIA Rail crew?

Amtrak crew. Only the International and Maple Leaf aren't join ventures (I believe) between VIA and Amtrak. The Cascades and Adirondack are entirely staffed by Amtrak crews.

Yes the Adirondack is staffed by Amtrak crew the whole distance of the trip as it doesn't make much sense to completely recrew the train at Rouses Point for a trip between 30-50 miles. I believe the International is crewed by VIA at the border, as is the Maple Leaf.
