Trains.com reported an, well, interesting story today from Japan. Here's what the Newswire had to say:

Person dies after being hit by three trains
NAGOYA, Japan - A person died after apparently being hit by two Bullet Trains and a “normal” express train on Monday morning, according to the Mainichi Shimbum newspaper.

A Bullet Train heading for Tokyo came to an emergency stop near a tunnel between Mikawaanjo and Toyohashi stations on the Tokaido Shinkansen (Bullet Train) line at about 9:20 a.m., after operators heard strange sounds. The driver of another Bullet Train on its way to Osaka also heard peculiar sounds near the same tunnel when it passed the section in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, two minutes earlier. Japan Railway (JR) officials found a hole, some six inches in diameter, at the tip of one of the trains when it arrived at the Nagoya station.

Both bullet trains continued their journeys after stopping for some 20 minutes. Operators of a normal JR train on the Tokaido Line, which runs next to the Bullet Train line, also noticed a crack in a window at the front of the first car near the tunnel at about 9:20 a.m. A body was later found near the scene, leading police to suspect it may have been hit by all three trains.

Bullet Trains normally run at a speed of about 170 miles per hour when traveling through the tunnel.
