I'm a freelance writer looking into a story about Amtrak operations on the NE Corridor. I'm wondering if anyone here has visited the Penn Station Control Center and can describe what it's like. What do dispatchers do there, what does the room look like, etc?
I'm also interested in what members here think are both the problems and high points of Amtrak NE Corridor Service today. Why are there so many delays north of New York? Why is track speed so slow, especially on MetroNorth trackage west of New Haven.
