Just a thought -
Having visited my folks now living in Sun City West and traveling along the diagonal highway "Grand" which parallels BNSF right-of-way and goes through many communities including Glendale, Peoria, etc..
It seems a really good opportunity for a commuter rail service, and possible feeder to the Sunset. The region is a home to a metropolis of seniors living in the Sun Cities communities, plus home to the rapidly growing professional population in Phoenix.
Of course, I'm reminded the Senator from Arizona is John McCain.
