Hey guys! Going railroading again in december. I will fly from Chicago to Vancouver, B.C. and then take a round trip ride from Vancouvr to Banff on the Rocy Mountaineer.

Has anybody ridden this train?

I know they use the old CN daynigher coaches for the red leaf service, and that they use custom built dome cars for the gold leaf service.

Also, Iknow that this train follows the CP route through the Rockies.

Steve,

Alas that's one I have yet to do, although it is on my list.

However an OTOL member took a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer back in 2002. You can read his trip report for some idea of what to expect, he rode in Gold Leaf service on his trip. You'll find the report here and the Rocky section starts about 2/3 of the way down the page. However the whole report is a good read IMHO. :)

That was informative. I will be rding red leaf one way, and gold leaf the otherway. I noticed that the writer had pictures of the track. I don't care how cold it is, I will be getting some serious platform time. :D :D :D

Thanks for your efforts.
