I was outta town tending family matters, but over the weekend a local historical outfit held its annual party. Fillmore is on highway 126, about halfway between the coast and Six Flags Magic Mountain at Valencia (and around 30 road minutes from me). Along with the town of Santa Paula, Fillmore is a popular site for movie, TV, and commercial location shooting, and the Fillmore & Western Railway bills itself as "Home of the Movie Trains" with good reason.

"Heyday of trains saluted"
Got to the annual Railfest several years ago, and it was great fun. Aside from the main attractions (trains) there were food and crafts booths, music, and a very impressive display of an array of antique farm machinery, much of it running; a country fair atmosphere with railroads center stage. Construction of the turntable site was underway at the time, and I'll have to get out there again to see the completed installation.
