Amtrak signs sales agreement with Rail Europe (10/10/2005)
WASHINGTON -- Amtrak signed a new sales agreement with Rail Europe 4A, a Rail Europe joint venture, that will expand its ticket sales to 32 countries.
Under the new agreement, international passengers can purchase Amtrak’s USA Rail passes through Rail Europe 4A’s international sales agents in 40 countries including China, Hong Kong, Nepal, Pakistan, and South African, among other places. Amtrak said previously all but eight of the sales agents did not offer Amtrak products previously.
The USA Rail Pass is designed exclusively for international visitors and is available in four versions: the National Rail Pass, which permits travel anywhere Amtrak goes in the U.S.; the Northeast Rail Pass, for travel from Virginia to Maine; the East Rail Pass, for travel between El Paso, Texas, to Denver and points east; and the West Rail Pass, for travel from the Midwest to the Pacific Ocean.
