For those who may not be familiar with Railway Age, it's essentially a trade publication for the railroad industry; as opposed to Trains, which has a more general and fan-oriented outlook.

While not a subscriber, I read RA's article excerpts and editorials online regularly and find the material and viewpoints very interesting.

The article linked below is fairly bullish on transit funding prospects.

New billions for passenger rail?

"Rail and other transit systems are in line for a vast infusion of new capital improvement dollars -- not in spite of, but because of, the troubled economy."

The photo shows a BART train headed either westbound under the bay to San Francisco or northbound to Richmond. I have a similar shot, with Bay Bridge and downtown S.F. in the background, taken from likely the same platform on the way to an Oakland A's/Baltimore Orioles game at the Oakland Coliseum in 2007.
