Network Rail, the body that manages Britain's railway infrastructure, has released a timelapse video showing the construction of the new Workington North railway station in north-west England. It's a two platform halt with high level platforms and footbridge, built in just one week to re-connect the town of Workington that has been cut off during recent floods in Cumbria. One road bridge has collapsed (taking the life of a police officer directing traffic away) and another has been condemned. With the railway bridge still intact, the new station re-connects thousands of people cut off from schools, work and shops.
