Heading into L.A. on Thursday aboard Surfliner 774, we passed northbound Train 11, Coast Starlight, between Van Nuys and Glendale. Behind the usual P42s and ahead of the baggage car are a couple of Sounder commuter cars. Apparently being returned to the Seattle area by Metrolink, the meet was too swift and surprising for any shot at a shot. Made for a very colorful consist, and would be a fine shot somewhere along the line if anybody can get one.

I would be happy to get that shot for you when the Starlight passes through CIC at 1:55 a.m., but my camera takes really cruddy nighttime shots.

I also worked one of my longest shifts in a while and may be cozy in my bed by then.

I hope people in Oregon or Washington get your message.

They must be shipping cars north. On Wednesday, 4.29, I was waiting for the 5:05 p.m. EB (VAN - MSP). The n/b CS arrived at VAN about 20 min. ahead of the the EB. They were also hauling two Sounder communter cars.

It turned out to be a truly remarkable day for such a rare event: our train also arrived with a one. I was in the last car (sleeper). Attched to ours was a private car. I'll post pictures and details about the car in my upcoming trip report.
