we live 3 blocks from a Long Island Rail Road station.
an easy trip to company HQ, which is across from the BWI RR station: LIRR to NY Penn, Amtrak to BWI.
nearly door-to-door sans personal motor vehicle.
50 million times the percentage of Americans who ride trains ?!?

they seemed pricey to me too.
if the trips had super-luxurious accomodations (justify the price), i figure they probably would have loudly noted it in the literature / website.
can anyone describe their experiences with amtrakvacations.com ? think its an outfit in Massachusetts that Amtrak works with.
we're thinking of trying the 'eastern seaboard and french connection' package http://www.amtrakvacations.com/index.php?id=827 ... good /bad ? any opinions/info appreciated.
