amtrakvacations.com 'eastern seaboard' : opinions ?

can anyone describe their experiences with amtrakvacations.com ? think its an outfit in Massachusetts that Amtrak works with.

we're thinking of trying the 'eastern seaboard and french connection' package http://www.amtrakvacations.com/index.php?id=827 ... good /bad ? any opinions/info appreciated.

Personally, I think they are overpriced and if you book the stuff by yourself, you can save money.

I agree - as I sometimes have way too much time on my hands I looked at several of their continental US packages some time back. I could price them out almost 40% less than what they were charging. Their fees are very high and you could probably do better with a good travel agent if you didn't want the hassle of booking it all your self.

I also Agree, this resurrection of Amtrak vacations is nowhere as good as the original.

they seemed pricey to me too.

if the trips had super-luxurious accomodations (justify the price), i figure they probably would have loudly noted it in the literature / website.
