Riding the SW chief home, would like to imbibe in a few drinks in my roomette without paying the overpriced Amtrak charges. Is there a liquor store nearby Union Station that is in walking distance?

Have been looking at ways to get from LA toChicago, and since I've done the SWC a few times one of the options is the Sunset to the Texas Eagle, has anyone done this? Any info or insights to this route and pairing would be greatly appreciated

The roomettes are different on the Superliners (Chicago west of) and on the eastern side. If your trip is on the est there is a bit more room for carryon luggage in your roomette. Two carry on size (airline) fit nicely in an overhead compartment. You realize once you take this trip you will...
