Coming in on LSL and leaving for NOL on Christmas day. We have an 11 hour layover in Chi town providing LSL is on time. Wondering how to spend the extra hours, what will be open         and worth going to. Would like to get some food as not sure if City of New Orleans will have dinner.  Welcome...

The cost to go from a roomette to a bedroom is about one thou online.....what could one expect by getting upgraded on board price wise?? Is there a good time to check back online to see if it drops, any experiences?

I know they are small, question if the top bed is down is one still able to sit in the seats, as you can do in a viewliner roomette?

Riding the SW chief home, would like to imbibe in a few drinks in my roomette without paying the overpriced Amtrak charges. Is there a liquor store nearby Union Station that is in walking distance?

I will be riding the Sl/TE out of union station in LA and was wondering if there is a store nearby that sells alcoholic beverages, such as whiskey? Walking directions and distance would be helpful.

Have been looking at ways to get from LA toChicago, and since I've done the SWC a few times one of the options is the Sunset to the Texas Eagle, has anyone done this? Any info or insights to this route and pairing would be greatly appreciated

Thanks a bunch will definitely check out Phillipes and Alameda st, and yes this is a roundabout return to the east coast from Las Vegas- really can't understand why Amtrak wouldn't add this route......it would be a full train most of the time I'd bet!

The roomettes are different on the Superliners (Chicago west of) and on the eastern side. If your trip is on the est there is a bit more room for carryon luggage in your roomette. Two carry on size (airline) fit nicely in an overhead compartment. You realize once you take this trip you will...
