I know this is an Amtrak converstaion site but does anyone know of a similar site for the VIA Canadian. There is a site here but not much conversation. Just rode the EB from Chiciago and the CZ to LA and now thinking about the Canadian.
Is there a web site that gives details about the Canadian consists and the changes by season? I realize that summer is busy but wonder what month traffic slows and the consists get smaller.
Also, the bargain fares are listed for only a small number of rooms so I suppose you have to take the one...
I certainly agree, adjust the schedule so it is realistic. Also consider dropping a couple of daily departures each way until the system is up and running in a timely fashion.
The EB on the 25th from Chicago is apparently lost somewhere. Has it been cancelled and what do they do with passengers when the train doesn't go.
I'm scheduled on Aug 1 and am getting concerned about whether there will be a train.
I also wonder how Amtrak handles busing if the westbound EB turns at Spokane. Assuming the EB is 4 hours late, what would the Seattle bus arrival time be? Also, do the sleeper passengers go on the first buses or is it a mad rush?
All this busing reminds me of the elimination of the urban rail...
Tried to check the status of the EB departing Seattle on the 17th on the Amtrak site and it will not show anything. Does anyone know whether it is actually running on to Chicago?
The 75 per cent fares are a great deal but you would need to act very quickly when they are posted. The summer Canadian consists are very large (long). I assume that the consists are smaller in the fall and winter. Can any tell me what they look like and when they change?
Looking at VIA sleeper fares, it shows economy bedroom an d just bedroom for 1 or 2 persons. What is the difference between the two other than a slighly lower price?
Do they assign specific sleeping rooms and car when reservations are made for the Canadian? Are specific rooms assigned when purchasing under the fifty percent and 75 percent special sale fares?
Arriving at the Chicago station 2 hours before departure, can reserved tickets be picked up in the Metreo lounge or do I have to get them first in the main lobby?
