Closing my Amtrak Credit Card Account

I am ready to cancel as well. It wasn't my idea to switch banks. Why did I get hit with a late fee for a payment I never knew about? I have received one harassing letter and one email. I've never has any issue with this card until FNBO came along.

What I miss about Amtrak train rides . . .

I miss the early ‘80s. Buying my ticket at LA Union Station at the old original ticket windows, now off limits, and being the only person there. Detraining at Kansas. City into the unrestored Union Station. Six people in a station designed for 10,000. Using one of those old telephones from the...

Another Food Option at LA Union Station

Some truth to that, but don't forget about Musso and Frank Grill. The Metro Red Line gets you within a couple of blocks.

LA Union Station first class lounge

It's a nice spot to hang out. You can park your bags for free, then head over to Phillipe's for chow.

    Name That Station!

We have a winner! Yes, Evansville L&N depot. Designed by Richard Montfort who also designed the Nashville station. This station was razed in 1985 by some very short sighted people despite opposition from many citizens.

    Name That Station!

Are historic stations allowed? If any of you old timers ever rode the Dixie Flyer you might remember this one.

Which route(s) do you travel the most?

By far the Surfliner from Santa Ana to LA. Many trips from LA to Kansas City on the Southwest Limited and Southwest Chief. Also the Kansas City/St.Louis Mules and Ann Rutledge a few times.

Recent Amtrak Dining Car Food Photos

November is my first trip on the SWC in a few years. I hope they still have the chipotle veggie burger, it's the best item on the menu. Although my all time favorite was the chicken kiev from back in the '80s.

Boarding Pass (or Amtrak's version of the same)

Correct. I forgot my ticket when boarding a Surfliner at LAX and the conductor just looked it up on his device, no problem.

Chicago Union Station: My View Based on My Experience

Only been to Chicago once and that was years ago, but I remember being very impressed with Dexter the bartender there.

    SWC Delays

I've taken the SWC many times for the last few decades. Somehow, no matter how late it might be, it always seems to arrive in LA and Kansas City on time. More or less.

    Traxx Restaurant

It's OK, but Phillipe's is more fun.

LA Union Station's Fred Harvey Room is officially restored

Hey, it's the 21st Century. There are no yuppies, they've been replaced by hipsters drinking IPAs and fruity beer, not lite. :-) edit: And wearing funny little hats

What to see AT THE STATION

Ha! I bought a ticket at that counter once back in the '80s. Just a couple of blocks from LA Union Station is Phillipe's, home of the French dip sandwich and with a lot of railroad and circus memorabilia. Good food, too.

Pacific Surfliner: Two Business Class Cars 10/31-12/04/16

The coaches have definitely become more crowded on the Surfliner. At least on the ones I ride, the 579 and 562. Guess that's a good thing.
