  • You asked me a couple of months ago about the history of the name "Chicago" Actually it is a railroad car rather than the city - although I do love the city also. The Chicago was the rear car on one of the train sets of the B&O's National Limited. The other one, the Washington is in the B&O museum in Baltimore.     My wife and I have a total of more than 70 years working for Amtrak + I had 1&1/2 year working on Amtrak equipment while I was employed by the Penn Central.

    By the way the avatar photo is of Turbotrain wreck in Montreal, I was beating on the engineers shoulder as he passed a red signal at 95 mph.
