Sean got offered admission to FSU

Congratulations Sean! It looks like you'll be coming up my way. I got my BA in music from FSU and I now in the process of getting my MS at FSU. What are you thinking of in terms of a major? Anyway, welcome to the Seminole family! To answer the question about Amtrak in Tallahassee. The Sunset...

    My Amtrak trip (part 2)

I spent a wonderful week and a half in Buffalo enjoying the sites and the cooler weather. I left Buffalo early in the morning. Amtrak had pushed back the departure time 20 minutes supposedly because of CSX track maintanance (although I didn't see any during my trip). I was very surprised to find...

    First trip, new question

Your stuff should be fairly safe in the sleeper but I wouldn't leave things lying around when you leave your room. I always put everything away before leaving and I carry things like my digital camera with me. If you close your shades and door no one should know whether or not you are there...

    My Amtrak Trip (part 1)

A few weeks ago I started out on a very exciting trip. It was my first Amtrak trip in a very long time. I was taking the train from Orlando, FL to Buffalo, NY and then returning a week and a half later. Even though I was prepared for the worst, the trip went very well. We begin on Sunday July...

    auto carriers

In a related matter... I was reading Richard Elgenson report on the Empire Builder 75th anniversary celebration on Trainweb.com and he mentions something about Amtrak ordering new auto carriers for the Auto Train. Here's what he says, "The board of directors has just approved a contract to...

    DOne with the SUper train?

I'm looking forward to having the "Meteor" come back. I have tickets for 98 on the 11th of July and it scared me a little when I heard that the "Super Train" had been extended. I'm glad it's looking like things will go back to normal on July 7.

    10.5 Quake

Plus, a lot of scientists are really angry about all of the false facts that are portrayed in the movie. It's all just about ratings.

    Rail schedule

It's probably someone who thinks he's communicating with Amtrak. This site is not Amtrak. Contact Amtrak directly by going to www.amtrak.com or calling 800-USA-RAIL for help with your trip.

Interstate MAX Line Opens Sat May 1

It's good to hear that the opening was sucessful. Maybe someday I'll get back to Portland to ride it. MAX has grown so much since I moved away in 1995.

Interstate MAX Line Opens Sat May 1

No it runs north on Interstate Avenue.....hence the name. But it's actually called the "Yellow Line".

Interstate MAX Line Opens Sat May 1

Perhaps it would be a good idea to explain a little about where we are talking about. Vancouver is in Washington State and is seperated from Portland and Oregon by the Columbia River. The "Yellow" line was originally to go over the river to Vancouver but because the citizens of Vancouver voted...

    L.E.D. signals

LED's do burn out eventually but they last thousands of hours longer then light bulbs. They also use about a quarter of the electricity that light bulbs do so they greatly reduce electrical costs. That's why you see so many cities switching their traffic lights to LED's.

    Cycle 4 menu

I agree. Those prices seem comparable to most fine dining resturants. Besides, if the people in coach want a cheaper meal there still the lounge.
