California Zephyr route guide?
My 82 year old parents are taking the Zephyr from Omaha to San Francisco for Dad's USMC reunion in August. Did not know about these books. Amazon has the Denver-Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake City-San Francisco books on their site. $16.00 each from a third party seller. Just bought them and...- ladyjay78

Is rail travel really more expensive?
It all depends. For me, I travel from NYP to TOP. I have paid anywhere from $190 to $460 for RT airfare to KC. Currently it's running @ $360 for coach. To that I add (each way) a minimum: $ 40 for taxi to airport $ 50 for checked luggage $ 25 for meals/water That puts me at @ $590 roundtrip...- ladyjay78

Future bookings on Web Site
The policy is still 11 months out but the website is indeed screwed up. "Julie" is allowing the 11 month advance. I just booked the first leg of my March 31, 2011 trip a few minutes after midnight on 5/1. Even the agent wasn't sure it would come up but all was well. The website would only let...- ladyjay78
