26 BNSF cars derail @ Ludlow, cancels Amtrak 4(21)

Many area newspapers today are reporting that 26 cars on a BNSF freight with Hazmat derailed yesterday morning east of Barstow at Ludlow, on the Needles Sub, causing damage to both mainline tracks. Amtrak 4(21) was cancelled between LAX and FLG with no alternate transportation... 3(20) operated as far as FLG, where it was turned around and brought back to ABQ to become 4(21). Seems that the tracks were repaired early this AM, and 4(22) is on schedule to depart from LAX tonight, with an extra coach to help accommodate displaced passengers from 4(21).

I will be on this 4(22) LAX-NDL and will report back with any notable operation differences.

Nothing crazy yet, but how's this for odd: a Super II coach, complete with blue curtains, with all of the seats redone in that old green-and-orange style! It's coach 34114...
