Now i am not your average amtrak rider....
i dont live where amtrak goes. First friday night i will take a bus overnight, arriving in shelby mt on saturday morning. I will spend the day in shelby (where i hope to get some good photos of the eastbound empire builder) before leaving on the westbound builder to portland. then on the same day i will take the builder east to chicago (and through shelby again). at chicago i will connect to the cardinal and arrive in DC on wednesday night to begin a life on capitol hill!
why do i go to portland first, you ask? because i want to see the columbia gorge in daylight and because i want a good 4 day ride on the trains, i wont get another opportunity for some time. I cant wait!
