I've noticed a few interesting things on railpictures.net in the past couple of days. I was curious if I could get a little background on some of them. The first one a Heritage Dorm in Phase IVB.

Does anyone know which dorm(s) have been repainted so far? Is this going to be more of a widescale thing with them? Are the Viewliners next? I hope that they don't remove the names on any of these cars like they've been doing with the Superliners.

Another unique appearance is this:

Does anyone know why this has the other form of the Wave logo on it? Is that going to be the standard or just the exception. I personally don't like this one as much as the normal look.

I'm curious about what you guys think about these "new" looks and the scheme in general.

Well if you'll notice the 136 also has a different number board than any other engine. The best thing I can come up with (although I have nothing to support this) is that it was done by a shop other than Beech Grove (like Wilmington) or done by a contractor (like MPI or Altoona).

Interesting; this picture on 4rr.com from 2003 shows it with the original number board and logo. Bat 51's right; this loco has been painted somewhere other than in the Amtrak shops.

The "wave" paint scheme really doesn't do much for me. I have always been partial to "Phase II" painted locomotives, as well as the original paint scheme on the P40DCs, which I got to see on the production floor at GETS in Erie...

Well all the engines were repainted into Phase Vb standards at some point. But the shade of blue does also seem to be lighter on this engine, but it does seem to vary from engine to engine.

Actually IIRC it was in Phase Va when it ran Kerry/Edwards. However, this photo from December 04 shows it with a normal paint scheme on the Vermonter heading out of New Haven. Not sure what happened there.
