This unit was actally painted in Phase V a while back in the Warrington era. 540 and 541 were also victims. All three units were recieved from CSX in exchange for two F-40s. I must say though it looks quite nice. B)
 
This is a picture I took while enroute to New York on the crescent.

I found them quite attractive actually. I like how Amtrak thought to put the red stripe very low allowing it to line up very nicely to the cars, that are in phase V.
 
Until that photo was posted with the unit coupled to a Viewliner I never realized how big the switcher units are. They're taller than a P-42 and seem to be longer than an AEM-7.
 
The main reason for the tallness is so the Engineer can see over the long hood. Since the engine was designed to run long end forward he needs to be able to see out just as if he were running short hood forward.
