Ridership 14,600 FY2010

Amtrak Train:

VERMONTER St. Albans, VT - Springfield, MA - New York, NY - Washington, DC

Hey Amherst thanks for your service, sorry to your 14.600 a year. ride that get on&off at Amherst that will lose service, and 37,819 people in Amherst that need amtrak service but sorry we r going to go a new route

New station is just eight miles away, with local bus connections. A more direct route is best for all riders. What are you suggesting? Should Amtrak not return to the more direct route? Should Amtrak continue the awkward backup move at Palmer? I think the residents and students at Amherst will be able to make the adjustment without too much trouble.

Ask PVTA to provide improved bus service from Amherst to the new Northampton train station.

It's 8 miles away. It should take less than 20 minutes. It takes all of 20 minutes by the BIKE TRAIL.

Amherst, population 37,819

compared to:

Holyoke with 40,000 plus Northampton with 28,000 plus Greenfield with 17,000, which totals 85,000
