Amtrak diner (LAX)

I happen to see on several visits that superliner diner # 38039 is always packed with the private cars on the spur west of the station .. anybody know why ?

Just speculating, but it's probably a protect car for the Sunset, SWC, and Coast Starlight (and it's just a day away if needed for the CZ). There's a lot of things that can go wrong in a diner two thousand miles from Beech Grove...particularly the refrigeration system.

I've heard that that Amtrak car in "The Garden" is there for use in emergency responder or employee emergency training.

If it was a protect car, it would be in the yard south of the station and not parked next to all of the PVs.
