Another Companion Coupon question

I called and made a reservation, giving the code to the reservation agent. The agent quoted me a rate that included the discount for the coupon. However, when I received the email, the rate was higher by the amount of my travel companion's rail fare. Is the discount taken off when I take the coupon to the station?

When I have used these I've always had to go to a station so I would assume the answer to your question is yes... I believe they re-do the ticket after presentation of the voucher.
