All Aboard: Struggling Amtrak hopes new chief will win funding to sustain serviceDavid Gunn steps off a train in Sacramento and it's as if a rock star has been spotted on the platform.

An Amtrak employee zips up to him in a cart and grabs his hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you," she gushes. "You're just ... awesome."

Very well written Article thanks for the link. Nice to see someone having a plan for a change. I'm sure we're all confident in Gunn.

I'm glad to see the employees are glad to work and care for Amtrak. We may get a few "bad apple" attendents, but most are motivated to work on America's one and only passener railraod.

We've NEVER had anybody like Gunn...........what a good feeling , and hope for the future we get from him.
What about W. Graham Claytor Jr.? (Also Name of AT Deluxe Sleeper #32502)

You're right Jon, some, but not all attendants are "bad apples".

.....also the name of the main corridor in Washington Union Station everyone must pass through to get to or from the trains.

Sure, I think Graham Claytor was good, too, probably our second best. I sort of think he did not have quite as much "vision" as Gunn has...or maybe the circumstances at his time did not demand as much from him....if he had been at the same time and same place as Gunn, perhaps he would have been about as good.
