Richmond to West Palm on the Silver Star. Nice place to go in April, but can you take bikes in the baggage car? Would they just let us place the bikes in there - with a damage waiver? Or do the bikes have to be packed in a box?

At least it is all on the same train - no changing in Chicago.

Unfortunately, unless u have a folding bike, or cool bike bag, it will hv to be boxed.

Shame, because Amtrak could OWN the "bike market" if they were more aggressive.

Bikes/Environmentalist/Trains/Eco-Fanatics (like me) a very NATURAL fit.

People who concerned about the environment, will tend to pay more to be "green". Just look at success of Whole Foods
