I'm so excited, I just had to post!
My wife and I already booked our vacation this year, round trip DC to Whitefish on the Capitol Limited/Empire Builder, with a week of hiking at Glacier National Park in-between in June.
A friend of mine is getting married in San Francisco August 11. I checked my AGR account, and we had enough points for a free one-way trip in a sleeper from DC-Emeryville (Cap Ltd/CA Zephyr). I checked our Midwest Airlines account, and we had enough points to fly home from SFO-DCA! Free trip! AND another trip through the Rockies! (We did the same thing -- train WAS-EMY, plane SFO-DCA) last summer as a vacation.)
This shall be a fantastic, Amtrak-filled year!
