Has anyone figured out how many roomettes sold raises the bucket on each rate? Is it 1 - 3 low bucket,4 - 6 next,7 - 9 next, 10 - 12 next, 13 and up highest?? Inquiring people want to know

Well, certainly the number of Roomettes available varies from train to train. For example, the Cardinal has only one sleeper while the Empire Builder may have as many as five (counting the Transition). Time of year is another variable--people are probably willing to pay more for the California Zephyr in July than January. But my overall impression is that Amtrak's pricing algorithm is unfathomable.
