Riding the Pacific Surfliner today, two CalTrans representatives distributed survey booklets. In all my years riding the Surfliner (and San Diegan), this is the first time I've taken the survey and I hope that CalTrans is genuinely interested in improving the service. Some of the questions included:

- Origination and destination stations (of course)

- Actual origination and destination location/address

- Transportation method to get to/from the origination/destination stations

- Purpose of the trip

- Type of ticket used for the day's trip

- How frequently you travel on Amtrak, Coaster, and Metrolink

- Quality of onboard staff/services/amenities

- Quality of the food offerings in the cafe car

One of the questions that got my attention: If the train didn't stop at your station, would you get off at another station, use another mode of transport, not take the trip at all, etc.? This may be in regards to return of the "express" service via train 563 skipping certain stations.

They didn't ask questions about everything, so you had to think about improvements you'd like, such as wifi. Some questions I thought they could have asked included:

- Were you able to get a seat on today's train or are you standing?

- Were you able to find seats together for your family?

- Were you able to find storage space for your luggage?

- How many trains were you bumped off until you found rack space for your bike?

Anybody else take the survey?

After an AGR RT SAN-CHI a call came asking those same questions.
