There will be some private cars added to the Carolinian next month for special event in DC.

J.P. Henderson is offering space on two luxury rail cars attached to Amtrak trains heading to Washington.

The rail cars, which leave out of Charlotte, carry 25 people in all and offer bedrooms for 16 people.

It's not cheap. Bedrooms cost $3,600 and sleep two. But with that, customers get to ride in style to Washington Jan. 16. Once there, the cars will park at Union Station, blocks from the ceremony. Customers can use the cars as hotel rooms. All food and drink are covered. A chef has been retained for the duration of the trip. The rail cars return home Jan. 22.

The company also offers seats for nine additional riders, who pay $600 for a round-trip ride. Bill Willett, director of passenger services, said the company has booked 10 people for the ride so far.

Price a bit too much for me though.
