Just finished a round trip to Kansas City on #3/4. The "computer was not working" on 8/19 so there was no such boarding group assigning going on so "just go to the coach boarding lounge" for the LD trains. Just wondering if this was a one time thing or on-going?
The tickets mentioned the procedure and Amtrak's site still shows it to be in effect. Train was soldout so quite a crowd headed down the platform with seniors/families leading the way. At the first coach(at rear of train closest to station), seat assignments were handed out if you were going to KC. Others were directed further along.
