Denver RTD need a bit of help to complete its current projects. Yes there a pot of federal money out there, but with Covid meltdown of the RTD maybe the state should address the issues there before starting something new.

I know I can chew gum while walking. However I am not sure Colorado is up for the task.

This is a separate entity's project. It's coordinating with RTD and with CDOT. Both the UP and BNSF have liaison staff attending board meetings.

We recently drove along I-25 from Pueblo to Denver. In many places we could see both the BNSF (ATSF) and UP(DRGW) tracks. While there were places the tracks were not visible, I was surprised by seeing only two coal trains in the 100 miles, one of which was unloading at a utility company. As utility coal continues to decline it will certainly become easier for freight and passenger to coexist.

Pueblo won’t take much to be a good terminus as the station and surrounding area are becoming a bit gentrified. While a barber shop was the only retail in the station there were legal and government offices and a community event room. And the former DRGW freight house is now a museum.

BNSF/UP tracks in far right of photo. Some of the station tracks connected to a somewhat shabby collection of passenger cars to my rear in photo. A forlorn ATSF 4-8-4 in the foreground
