Colorado Railcar

I remember hearing a while back that Amtrak was looking at the Colorado Railcar as a possible commuter train solution. Does anyone know what ever became of this? Have they included it in their latest request to Congress? Did they decide it wasn't worth it?

Well Amtrak did look at the Colorado Railcar DMU, but it decided on its own RDC design, which is loosely based on the DMU. Amtrak does still want the RDC's for routes like the Springfield-New Haven Shuttles, Hiawatha's, and maybe even the Downeaster. They have included this in their budget requests, but that requires Congress to properly fund Amtrak.
