Another good reason to look both ways before crossing any tracks: http://www.gilroydispatch.com/news/crime_fire_courts/equipment-malfunction-suspected-in-cause-of-fatal-railroad-collision/article_63cb24d8-985f-11e4-a763-df0f4b5b8c2b.html
A friend was waiting at the light across the street and saw this accident. She said the crossing arms had been down for another maintenance vehicle. After that vehicle cleared the crossing, the arms went back up, and the fellow, who was first in line, proceeded to cross the tracks and was struck. The maintenance vehicle that struck him was moving in the same direction as the one for whom the arms had been down. There is a single track at this crossing, and I know when I'm first in line, I proceed with little caution when the arm goes up. I won't depend upon my luck any longer.
