Good story, but hasn't Bush said he'd maintain the NE corridor? Wouldn't that include Boston-NY-Wash? I think what the man's administration wants is an end to Amtrak everywhere except the NE corridor--and wherever states want to pay the bill.

Very sad. I hope Congress rebels.
 
I can only remember 9/11..when ALL air travel stopped. The trains filled up fast but could not deal with the crowds because of the lack of equipemnt due to lack of money...due to lack of federal support. So in a worst case senario, no air travel, not enough trains, and national traffic jams all experienced by the taxpayer. Oh,but guess what...Bush has his own plane..Air Force One....which we who are stuck in a traffic jam, because of the lack of trains are willing to pay for.....every year!!!!
