We leave from Portland Ore.on Empire Builder to Chicago.I notice different train number when we reach Spokane do we have to change trains???Our first train trip and I know we do change trains in Chicago to CZ to go to San Francisco.

As long as you only have one ticket that reads train #28 from Portland to Chicago, you don't have to change in Spokane. If you've got two tickets, one reading #28 Portland to Spokane and then train #8 Spokanne to Chicago, you'll have to change cars in Spokane. The two trains combine in Spokane to create one long combined train to Chicago.
