A heads up for anybody on here looking for a bargain!

 

I just canceled the Family BR on the May 9 E/B EB.

 

Roomettes are sold out. Bedrooms are going for $1081+.

 

The FB is open for $341 (from) VAN plus the ticket cost.

Sometimes you just run into those bargains. I just saved $120 by looking back on my reservation and it had lowered $120 for two of us so I rebooked it. Then the trip for later this week, I snatched a bigger room doing the same thing. Too bad I couldn't get it round trip but oh well.

The same happened to me twice when I cancelled my FB reservations a week before departure.

They came back to inventory for $330 (LAX to NOL) and $241 (CHI to NOL) instead of regular minimum $1000+ and $500+. Both trains were completely sold out at that point, so FB became they only option to travel and it was grabbed out by somebody within few hours.

It's weird Amtrak puts them on sale a way below the lowest bucket when the whole train is sold out.
