From Trains.com:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence Fire Deparment is investigating why an Amtrak supervisor last month overruled his own train dispatcher and allowed an Amtrak Acela train to pass along a section of tracks where city firefighters were extinguishing a brush fire, according to a story earlier this week in the Providence Journal. Four members of Engine Company 8 and their pumper - one of two engine compinies that responded to the fire - "were right near the tracks when the train came through," Fire Chief David Costa yesterday. "It was not a good situation. It's absolutely a safety concern."
