NEW YORK — Amtrak trains heading to and from upstate will operate out of Grand Central Terminal instead of New York Penn Station for the next two weekends, to accommodate Metro-North Railroad track work. The detour will involve 45 Amtrak trains per weekend.

While the work is being done, Amtrak passengers on the Hudson Line will see changes. Some trips will be longer, some will depart from or arrive at different stations and some trains will split in two at Albany. Amtrak will provide shuttle buses from Penn Station to Grand Central.

How's this gonna work? Does Amtrak have equipment that can run on NYC's electrical system, I thought the P32-AC's were limited to NYP's 3rd rail? Unless they are borrowing locos? Seems like a more logical solution is needed?
